The RS-485 Repeater is a dual isolated fast automatic repeater used to extend the RS-485 device network for a Stanley Healthcare Solutions' system such as RoamAlert®. When the RS-485 network exceeds 4000 feet of cable, the repeater is used to boost the signal so that an additional 4000 feet can be added to the network.

The repeater is also used as an RS-485 network isolator with a Stanley Healthcare Solutions Elevator System. The RS-485 Repeater isolates the network from excess noise and possible interference from the elevator traveler cable, and allows up to five elevators to be connected to the network in a star configuration. Up to two repeaters can be used to extend the network cable length, and five repeaters can be used as elevator isolators. An external power supply is required.
